Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Kitaka James Newton (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our mobile applications (the “Apps”). It applies to Yum Check and to other scanner, vision, and utility Apps that link to this policy.
By using an App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Process
We aim to collect and use only the information needed to operate an App. The information processed can depend on the features you choose to use.
Images and scan content
If an App lets you scan with your camera or select an image from your photo library, it processes the image and related scan content to provide the requested result. For example, Yum Check processes food-package, nutrition-label, and ingredient-list images to generate an ingredient analysis.
We use scan content only to provide the requested feature. We do not use it for advertising, cross-app tracking, or marketing profiling.
Information stored on your device
Apps may store information locally on your device, such as scan history, scan results, onboarding choices, app preferences, and the number of free uses remaining. This information is used to make the App work and is not kept in an account maintained by us unless an App clearly tells you otherwise.
Purchases and subscriptions
If you make a purchase, Apple processes the payment through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information. Our subscription provider may process purchase and entitlement information needed to confirm your access to paid features.
Analytics
Some Apps use privacy-conscious product analytics to understand how features are used and to improve reliability. For example, Yum Check uses Mixpanel with an anonymous analytics identity and may record events such as onboarding completion, scan outcomes, subscription status, app version, device platform, language, and feature interactions. We do not require an account to use the Apps and do not intentionally associate analytics with your name, email address, or contact list.
2. Device Permissions
An App may request access to your camera or photo library only when you choose a feature that needs it. For Yum Check, camera and photo-library access allow you to capture or choose an image for analysis.
You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings. Doing so may prevent features that rely on the permission from working.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide scan, analysis, and other requested App features;
- maintain locally saved history, settings, and usage limits;
- confirm subscriptions and restore purchases;
- troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Apps; and
- understand aggregated or anonymous feature usage.
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
4. Service Providers and Data Sharing
We use service providers only as needed to operate the Apps. Depending on the App and feature, these may include:
- Google Gemini: Scan images and instructions may be sent to Google for AI analysis. Google’s handling of information is governed by its Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: Requests may pass through Cloudflare Workers, which securely relay scan requests to the relevant analysis service. Cloudflare’s handling of information is governed by its Privacy Policy.
- Mixpanel: Anonymous product-analytics events may be processed by Mixpanel. See the Mixpanel Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat and Apple: Subscription status and purchases may be processed by RevenueCat and Apple. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
5. International Transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. We rely on service providers that implement safeguards intended to protect information during such transfers.
6. Retention and Deletion
Scan history and related App data are generally retained on your device until you clear them or uninstall the App. You can delete locally stored scan history using the App’s controls where available, or by uninstalling the App.
Images submitted for analysis are not retained by us as a user profile or scan database. Third-party providers may retain limited information according to their own policies and legal obligations.
To cancel a subscription, use your Apple App Store account settings. For privacy questions or deletion requests we can reasonably address, contact us at kitakajamesnewton@gmail.com.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to the processing of your personal information, and to request data portability. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Because we do not operate user accounts or retain most App data on our own servers, many requests can be addressed by clearing the data from your device or uninstalling the App. Contact us if you need assistance.
For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process scan content to provide the feature you request and process limited operational information for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Apps.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Apps are not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review the request.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of an App after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
